Light Pollution

We’re all aware of air, water and ground pollution but did you know about light pollution?  Light pollution is the excess use of artificial light and can have serious consequences for mankind, wildlife and even our climate. Light pollution did not exist billions of years ago when our planet’s light source was the sun, the moon and the stars.  As industry advanced, it generated light pollution from street lights, commercial building, factories, sports venues…you get the idea.  These sources tend to use lighting inefficiently and the electricity generated to power this lighting is being wasted. EARTH DAY

Did you know that the very first Earth Day was on April, 22, 1970?  It is now 2021 and the Earth Day holiday is 51 years old! April Fools' Day!

April 1st is April Fools’ Day, one of the most widely celebrated non-religious holidays in the world.  The origin of this holiday is not clear. Some claim that it dates back to 1582 when the Council of Trent in France discontinued the use of the Julian calendar (which marks the new year with the spring equinox - around April 1st ) and changed to the Gregorian calendar which celebrates the new year on January 1st.  Those who didn’t recognize this change became the brunt of jokes that included placing paper fish on their back and calling them “poisson d’avaril or April Fish suggesting that they were an easy catch or gullible. The Romans celebrated it during the festival of Hilaria...
