CODE RED on Climate Change

The United Nations called a “code red for humanity” in the wake of climate change.  This is a dire warning and a stark reality that the planet is warming to dangerous levels.  Wild fires, droughts, floods and hurricanes are intensifying according to the 230 scientists with the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC.)  They are very transparent that it is "clearly the cause of humans" and predicts warmer forecasts for the 21st Century than previously thought in their 2013 report. They stated that global temperatures are the hottest on record in 100,000 years!

Tragically, predictions indicate that temperatures are warming earlier than expected. In the 2015 World Paris Agreement, world leaders agreed to try to limit the warming to 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit(1.5 degrees Celsius) but the world has already warmed 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 degrees Celsius.)   In the 2030's the world will cross the 2 degree Fahrenheit (1.1 degree Celsius) mark compounding these issues and resulting in a grim future for the planet.

This is largely the result of burning fossil fuels which are accelerating climate change.  Only immediate and rapid reduction of greenhouse gas emissions can lessen these extremes.  If we work diligently to electrify our entire system resulting in carbon free energy which can be achieved at a reasonable cost to the consumer.

Many of the effects of climate change are already irreversible and our window of opportunity is fading.  We must act now!  Please take the pledge: commit t personal climate action!
